How does working temperature affect the lifespan of LED lights?

The lifespan of LED lights can be adversely affected by severe changes in working temperature or operating the bulbs outside the recommended temperature range. LED bulbs are tested at a working temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, which is adequate for most domestic environments.


However, in more challenging environments, with extreme levels of hot or cold ambient conditions, there may be a decrease in light levels together with an adverse effect on the life span of the bulb. This is why there are specially designed LED lights for use in hazardous and extreme conditions.

 

When the working temperature is less than 25 degrees, the lifespan is 100,000 hours.

When the working temperature is between 25 to 50 degrees, the lifespan is 50,000 hours.

When the working temperature is between 75 to 100 degrees, the lifespan is 10,000 hours.

When the working temperature is between 125 to 150 degrees, the lifespan is 2,000 hours.
